Baseline, development and what was observed
The study tracked Hometown Orthodontics across natural-language searches reflecting how consumers actually look for orthodontic care, including braces for children, Invisalign versus braces, teeth straightening and affordable treatment with payment options. Early testing established a baseline in which Hometown was inconsistently represented and often absent from prominent recommendations.
As its INDEXIS AI Knowledge Profile was developed and expanded, subsequent testing showed a material change. By approximately six months, Hometown was appearing prominently across a broader range of relevant queries, with continued periodic testing through September 2026 frequently placing the business first or second.
The business was not informed in advance which AI recommendation queries INDEXIS would test, and no INDEXIS Beacon was connected during the study. The case study includes dated query evidence and access to the live INDEXIS profile so readers can examine the underlying business knowledge and results for themselves.
What we observed
From November 2025 to April 2026, Hometown was not consistently prominent in the captured ChatGPT recommendations. From approximately April to September 2026, periodic re-testing increasingly placed Hometown first or second across several different orthodontic questions.
What this testing alone cannot establish
That INDEXIS was solely responsible for the change.
Important limitations
- This describes what was observed in INDEXIS testing during the study period.
- AI recommendations change and can vary by platform, query, location and time. Other businesses may not experience the same result.
- No result was guaranteed or paid for, and INDEXIS does not control ChatGPT or any other AI platform.
