Results & Case Studies

What we've actually observed.

INDEXIS helps businesses develop and maintain better knowledge for AI.

But INDEXIS does not control which businesses an AI platform ultimately recommends, and we don't believe businesses should be promised an outcome that no outside company can control.

That's why we test, measure and publish what we observe, including the businesses that do not demonstrate measurable improvement.

We publish the wins. We count the ones that don't win too.

Early INDEXIS testing

The current observed result

Current testing result

27%

of businesses in our testing demonstrated measurable improvement in the AI recommendation tests we tracked after development of their INDEXIS AI Knowledge Profiles.

27% demonstrated measurable improvement in tracked testing.

73% did not demonstrate the same measurable improvement during the tracked testing period. We count them too.

Results vary. INDEXIS does not guarantee recommendations or claim that INDEXIS alone caused the observed changes.

Results vary by business, customer situation, query, location, testing period and AI platform. These observations describe what occurred in INDEXIS testing and do not establish that INDEXIS alone caused the result. This figure can change as more businesses are tested.

Method

What do we mean by improvement?

We compare observed AI business recommendations over time, using the same defined customer questions or situations each time.

We look at whether a business begins appearing more consistently or more prominently in relevant AI recommendation responses after its INDEXIS AI Knowledge Profile is developed.

Observation

What changed during testing. This is what INDEXIS reports.

Causation

Whether INDEXIS alone caused the change. INDEXIS does not claim this unless future evidence supports doing so.

Counting everyone

What about the businesses that didn't improve?

Not every business we tested demonstrated a measurable improvement.

We include those businesses when calculating our results. The other 73% are part of the figure above, not left out of it.

That's important because INDEXIS is one source of information available to AI. A business's website, reviews, third-party information, location, customer context and the AI platform's own systems can all influence what ultimately gets recommended.

We don't remove businesses from our results simply because the outcome wasn't favourable.

Transparency means counting the businesses that didn't improve too.

How AI is different

AI recommendations aren't search rankings.

Traditional search typically begins with keywords and returns ranked links.

An AI conversation can begin with a customer's actual situation.

“My daughter needs braces but doesn't want metal braces.”

“My roof started leaking after tonight's storm and I need someone who can stop it now.”

AI can interpret the customer's situation and the conversation, and use the information available to it when deciding which businesses may be relevant.

There is not necessarily one permanent #1 business for "orthodontist", "roofer" or "accountant". A business may be particularly relevant to one customer situation and less relevant to another.

Traditional search

“Where does my business rank?”

INDEXIS

“Under what customer circumstances could my business be relevant?”

Websites, reviews, search visibility, third-party information and other signals still matter. The point is simply that an AI business recommendation is not a fixed search ranking.

Trust

No company controls what AI recommends. Neither do we.

AI platforms ultimately decide which information and businesses they include in their answers. INDEXIS does not promise rankings or guarantee that a business will be recommended by ChatGPT, Google or another AI platform.

What INDEXIS can do is help a business provide AI with better knowledge. INDEXIS continually develops, validates and maintains information about:

  • what the business does
  • the situations in which customers need it
  • how customers actually describe those needs
  • relevant business capabilities
  • what the customer should say, provide, ask or do next

The knowledge comes directly from participating businesses and is continually reconfirmed, giving AI access to current, attributable information that most businesses are unlikely to maintain at this depth on their own websites.

We don't promise the recommendation. We work on giving AI better knowledge from which to make one.

From the AI platforms themselves

These are official sources supporting the general principle. Neither OpenAI nor Google endorses INDEXIS.
